Writer’s block is the epitome of a worst nightmare for bloggers. It’s extremely easy to fall into a web of frustration knowing that you must consistently blog to keep your loyal readers. Consequently you feel hurried to crank out fresh posts and writer’s block strikes again and again. It’s a vicious cycle indeed. Just know, you are not alone!
According to ThinkBlogger “Blogging: Writers Block and how to Overcome it”
“If you are having a brainfart or ‘bloggers block’ then by all means, do not force it. Take a break from blogging, give yourself a bit of special time just for yourself to let your brain reboot. Whether it be 10 minutes, 25 minutes, or 1 hour. During this time, do not think about your blog post; during this time, let your mind be free of it.”

- Stop writing and just read blogs for enjoyment
- Walk away-totally away. Go and do something else
- Subscribe to posts by email from several of your favorite knowledgeable bloggers
- Write about an entirely different subject
- Have one or two pre-written posts in case of a mental block.
In brainstorming a new topic keep in mind that your readers want to somehow feel connected to your posts. A severe case of writer’s block can be transparent in your blog and you could consequently lose some of your fan base. Some very important tips we would like to recommend are:
- Surf the internet and browse other people’s blogs.
- If you’re a business blogger search through industry related blog posts.
- Get ideas for what some bloggers are writing about and make notes.
- And as what was mentioned by other suggestions - Take a break. Blogging should be fun.
So go have fun! Happy Blogging!

The part about taking a break is so crucial. We should all be taking regular breaks anyway. This will help PREVENT bloggers block from occurring as much. I subscribe to Brain Tracy’s newsletter. He says all successful people work only 5-6 days a week. On your day off he says you should do NOTHING related to your business. That way your mind can relax and rejuvenate. Take regular breaks every day and every week and a short mini vacation every 3 months in addition to a bigger vacation.
I have gotten several blogging ideas just by subscribing to newsletters like Brian Tracy’s.
Also, reading books either pertaining to your niche or otherwise can spark new ideas.
Taking a break IS one of the most crucial things you can do. The best ideas and inspirations come from things you may experience in your down time during the day. We agree with Brian Tracy’s idea that vacations are key to staying rejuvenated and successful in everyday life and why not in blogging?
I’ve got four blogs at the moment and it certainly helps to flit between them - I’ve tried dedicating a day to each but it just doesn’t work. I am yet to not blog for a whole day though!
